Archdeacon
On January 21, 2018 Kyn was collated as the first Archdeacon of Toronto, by Colin Johnson, Bishop of Toronto and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario. Archdeacon Kyn Barker and family have been members of St. Matthews for over 25 years. Kyn was ordained Deacon in 2009, the same year he retired from 35 years as a teacher and curriculum coordinator with the York Region District School Board. He volunteers at Community Information Fairview, is an active member of the Fairview Interagency Network, and is a board member of Flemingdon Community Health. Kyn is Coordinator of Deacons for the Anglican Diocese of Toronto, Kyn supports the community of deacons, and assists aspirants to the diaconate and parishes across the diocese through the process of raising up a deacon. Kyn enjoys singing with the Toronto Classical Singers, and listening to far away radio stations. He and Gwynne share their home in Don Mills with two cats who look forward to entertaining family.
