Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who believes in me will never die.”

Death, no matter when it comes, always catches us off guard. No amount of planning can prepare us for the death of our loved ones. Having said that, the clergy and pastoral care team at St. Matthew’s are here to support and journey with you through this difficult time. Pastoral care is available leading up to death, at the time of death and following death. For those anticipating death, we can also offer help with pre-planning some or all of the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are typically made in co-operation with the family as well as a funeral home or funeral service company.

As part of supporting you through this difficult time, Rev. Lisa will meet with you to provide grief support and begin the preparation for a funeral service. This includes helping you to choose a traditional or a contemporary Anglican service, which you’ll be able to personalize with readings, music, and a time of thanksgiving. She can further assist by offering suggestions around appropriate readings from Scripture as well as music. There is also the possibility of a reception at St. Matthew’s.

To arrange for a funeral or to meet with Rev. Lisa for further information about pre-planning or other pastoral concerns, please contact her either by email or phone.
